Why Now is a Great Time to Start Playing 7 Days to Die (2024)

Highlights

  • The 1.0 update for 7 Days to Die is launching soon with new armor sets and bonuses for players to enjoy on PC and console.
  • Changes to progression and trading will shift focus to looting and crafting, slowing down player advancement and encouraging teamwork.
  • Console players can look forward to nearly identical gameplay experiences with the upcoming 1.0 release of 7 Days to Die, including potential mod support.

With the full release of 7 Days to Die fast approaching, the developers at The Fun Pimps recently showcased some of the upcoming changes that will be introduced in the game’s 1.0 update. So whether players played previous versions of 7 Days to Die, or haven’t played any, there will be tons of fresh content for players to experience when the game’s twelve-yearly early access finally comes to an end this year.

The Best Mods For 7 Days To Die

7 Days To Die is a great experience on its own, but these amazing mods really add another dimension to it.

7 Days to Die’s 1.0 Update Will Be a Game-Changer

Armor and Clothing Changes

  • Removing clothing and clothing mods
  • Introducing medium armor type
  • Adding 16 new armor sets
  • Armor pieces will have new individual bonuses, and wearing a full matching set of armor will provide an additional bonus

With clothing and the old armor sets in 7 Days to Die being removed, the set bonuses provided by the new armor sets coming to the game will make up for the bonuses that players would previously get from specific clothing items and their associated mods. Additionally, the new armor bonuses and set bonuses will allow players to further specialize their proficiency with certain tools, weapons, and other gear, similar to the character perks in 7 Days to Die. So with the 16 new armor sets each providing varying bonuses, it might be worthwhile to mix and match certain pieces instead of investing in a full set, depending on the player's preferences.

Progression and Trader Changes

  • Increased crafting requirements for tools, weapons, and armor
  • Decreased quality and quantity of loot from trader inventories and quest rewards
  • Improved quality and quantity of loot from POIs
  • Introducing progression challenges for the different tool and weapon specializations

One of the more subtle changes coming in the 1.0 update is how players progress, specifically reducing the impact that the traders in 7 Days to Die have on the player’s progression. In previous versions of the game, the traders typically served as the main source of progression, with players being able to earn most of the key items by purchasing them or completing quests, except going forward, looting and crafting will play a much larger role in progression.

This will essentially draw out the player’s overall rate of progression in the game, making teamwork an especially useful strategy. So naturally, with all the attention the game will receive surrounding its new release, it will become an increasingly popular multiplayer survival game, with plenty of community servers open for both Co-Op and PvP groups.

After nearly twelve years of early access, the highly anticipated Version 1.0 release of “7 Days to Die” is here!

Map and World Changes

  • New and improved map generation tools
  • Traders will be assigned to a specific region by default
  • Adding 75 quest POIs
  • Introducing ‘Remnant’ non-quest POIs

Graphics and Performance Changes

  • New appearances for most zombie types
  • New appearances for most animals
  • Remnant POIs will improve stability in crowded regions

While the overhauled systems and other new features will be a sweet treat for all players, the upcoming 1.0 release will be especially huge for console players. Due to issues with publishing rights for the preexisting console version of 7 Days to Die, development for this legacy edition has long since been discontinued. With the 1.0 release though, console players will finally have a nearly identical version of the game as PC players.

Additional Changes

  • Console mod support remains a possibility
  • Plans for PC and console Crossplay
