The 19 best afternoon teas in North Conway (2024)

Stonehurst Manor is a historic mansion on 33 acres with luxurious rooms and a pool. The hotel also has a restaurant that specializes in New England cuisine with Italian touches. It is dog-friendly, and the menu includes items like eggs Benedict and french toast.

I spent the weekend at Stonehurst Manor with my girlfriend recently. Overall, we had a great experience. The rooms are clean and spacious. The grounds are really beautiful and well kept. The breakfast offerings are basic but very good. The dinners that we had were excellent! I would absolutely recommend either the rack of lamb or their signature dish, the prime rib! One of the best that I have ever had! My compliments to the chef! There were times that we had to wait a bit for our drinks and entrees, but I truly believe the staff does the best that they can. Many establishments have struggled finding and keeping good staff. Everyone that we encountered were very friendly and attentive here. The pool was clean and nice to lounge by during the day. The hot tub was nice to relax with a drink in the evening. Sure, parts of the building maybe showing age but that's part of the charm of a hotel that was built in the 19th century. There's a lot of history there. I would absolutely go back to the Stonehurst Manor for another stay and recommend it to anyone.

We went into the room and there were leaks on the ceiling and an awful smell. Also there were stains on the bed. This was supposed to be a five star bed and breakfast. I got the worst customer service from a manager who was a woman there today twice. The date being 1/28/22. She hung up on me twice. Called me a liar. No one should go there! It is beyond terrible and the manager on today should be fired for the way she treated me. Never again. Do not come here!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Stonehurst Manor in North Conway, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of amazing! The food was absolutely delightful, with a diverse menu offering mouthwatering dishes prepared to perfection.Under the ownership of Teresa, the new proprietor, the place exudes warmth and hospitality. She has truly transformed the ambiance, creating an inviting and charming atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience.Nick as well as all the staff, at Stonehurst Manor deserves special praise too. Their welcoming nature and attentive service made the visit even more enjoyable. From the moment I walked in until the last bite of dessert, they made me feel like a valued guest.I can't wait to go back for more culinary delights and pleasant moments at Stonehurst Manor. It has become my go-to spot for delicious food and a wonderful time. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fantastic dining experience in the Mount Washington in Valley

An awesome venue which hosted a great party for 50+ people. Prime rib, Chicken and Salmon entrees were a hit! The waiting staff, kitchen staff, and bartender worked like a well oiled machine! Kudos JJ and T!

This is a special unique place that we love to go to whenever in the North Conway area. It has a romantic old world feel if you want a special place for drinks and Dinner. If you can try to book an overnight as the breakfast and dinner, which are excellent, come with lodging. We always love to see Denise our favorite Waitress, who not only knows everything about the Stonehurst, but gives fantastic recommendations for shopping , skiing and fun in the area!

This place we were looking forward for so long, and yet disappointedFirstly, we were planning on bring our dogs. The only pet friendly room was on the “newer mountain wing”. That room is not any close to 5 star. It’s a motel room 100%. If they don’t provide dinner and breakfast(mandatory), that room for $200+ would be a disgrace.Secondly, since we didn’t end up being our dog, we got to change to a second floor room in manor, which is decent(comparing to the motel room). The last night we were here, we’re trying to sit in the lounge and wait for our dinner. I admitted there is no outside drinks allowed but there is no signs for that. When the bartender asked I put my tumbler away instantly and ask for a menu immediately. And he came back in 30 secs and instantly asked me and my husband to leave. RUDE. I don’t understand that how could the hospitality could be like this.Overall, the waitress/waiter and the receptionist ppl are great. But they’re very understaff — means you need wait at lease 30mins to get any order in after you sit. Apparently the bartender doesn’t care at all how the customers feels. More importantly, DO NOT book the newer mountain wing. That’s nothing about new.

We used to love this place - food is excellent! So I booked a two night stay ($800) for my daughter and her boyfriend for my daughter's birthday. Prior to her trip, she got COVID. She provided test results from a doctor indicating a positive test. She couldn't go. But the owner at Stonehurst Manor refused to refund any of the money - I'm out $800. Regardless of whether Stonehurst was able to fill the room, the price of the room includes 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts for 2 people so the owner is just pocketing the money - completely unethical! We'll never go back!

This is a lovely inn and we certainly enjoyed our night here, but as many reviewers wrote, it’s a bit like a tarnished dame who’s in need of a bit of polishing up. If you are into perfection, light-filled spaces and modernity, you’ll likely be unsatisfied here. But if you appreciate fine old architecture, moldings, and coziness, this is just perfect. Just squint your eyes and you can ignore poorly repaired ceilings, broken tiles, and chipped paint. Our two meals were really enjoyable and made it perfect to hunker down while snows flew outside. The big four-poster bed and a fire in our own fireplace put it over the top. We were treated with smiles and hospitality by every person we encountered, but to be fair, we made no requests, complaints or comments to the staff, so we had good odds of it going smoothly. A fun, quick trip to North Conway and the mountains.

Now that I have stayed here myself, I don't understand the bad reviews from some. It is a beautiful property, lovely view, we experienced excellent service and great food/drinks and we thought the value was there considering meals were included in the price. It is very convenient to outlet shopping but enough distance away to be more scenic and relaxing. The room we stayed in wasn't a luxury room or bath, but very comfortable and adequately cleaned. We loved having an outside sitting area and were very conveniently close to pool and hot tub, which was nice.

While the co*cktail lounge and dining rooms are great, the rooms are in desperate need of updating. Very outdated. No outlets to charge your phone next to your bed. There was only one across the room next to a dresser. Poor lighting in interior entry way. No tissue in bathroom. Better towels are needed and outside entry ways need attending to - cobwebs, leaves and debris, old chairs in need of cleaning. Hot tub was also empty. This was very disappointing, as we booked the bottom floor specifically for easy access and it was only mid-October.The location, fireplace and lovely ambiance of the public spaces in the main lodge are wonderful.

This cozy library lounge was the HIT of the weekend!! Best co*cktails I’ve had in New Hampshire and the most gorgeous atmosphere. The appetizers were yummy too! 10/10 recommend

We chose The Stonehurst Manor to host our wedding on March 2nd. There were 60 guests, several of whom stayed at the Manor. The planning phase, which is often a nightmare, could not have been easier or more pleasant. We began with Hannah, who returned my phone calls promptly, and was not only polite, respectful, and professional, but also fun! We toured the facility with her, and she answered many of our questions.Once we booked the venue, Theresa Truman worked with us. She was a dream and felt like an old friend by the time our weekend arrived! She was extremely accommodating to our needs; a short engagement, all of our guests were out-of-town and several needed rooms, as well as many food allergies. Our many phone calls and emails were answered in a timely manner and addressed all concerns thoroughly, offering several options and sharing excellent ideas. The event itself was perfect! Theresa oversaw everything herself, from the run-through and co*cktail party the evening prior, to assisting us in creating our signature co*cktail (which entailed finding and purchasing a particular brand and flavor of whisky), to checking in that morning to be sure we had everything we needed, to personally seeing to every detail herself during the event. The staff was excellent; very friendly, pleasant, and attentive, all without being 'under foot' in the least. The food was fabulous, not at all 'banquet-like'. This was all accomplished while the new owners were settling in, getting a feel for what needs to be done, and dealing with the many aspects of taking on a long-standing very successful venue, without missing a beat. The Manor itself is a gorgeous old Victorian, bursting with character and beauty, and the very definition of cozy, with its many fireplaces and comfy chairs. All of our guests had wonderful things to say and many of us plan to return for a weekend at least once each year and look forward to enjoying the wonderful hospitality of the Trumans. We can't begin to thank the entire staff of The Stonehurst Manor enough for the amazing weekend for all and perfect wedding for us.

I’ve been here on a few occasions and staff is always rude & disrespectful. Zero regard for their guests who pay through the nose for their overpriced rooms. Only thing they have going for them is their dinner menu. Chose to stay somewhere else after being disrespected by them as soon as we checked in. The hotel I am at now is 10x more modern, clean, & above all FRIENDLY. Don’t waste your time & money here, they have no compassion or care for their guests. Laughable

Manor was lovely, went for dinner. Service was ok, server was busy, but fun to speak with. Most employees were friendly. Wished for a different room to eat than the built over outside area. Food was tasty but cool, would have liked it a bit hotter coming to the table. Prices were above average, I think.

The room we stayed in (Room 2) was worse than many sub-$100 rooms. I ended up giving up trying to sleep 2 hours before I had to get up. To be fair, the staff was very nice when I interacted with them. The room, however:1. The room is motel style, with an entrance directly from the outdoors.2. The walls are paper thin, I could hear the person in the next room snoring.3. The ceiling was so easy to hear through, I could tell not only that people were walking, but exactly where they were in the room above.4. The bed was very creaky and small. Rolling over was a symphony.5. The heater made a loud annoying buzzing sound the entire time it was on. I ended up just turning the heat off after it woke me up the second time.6. The wifi router had a bright blue light on the ceiling immediately above the bed. It was so bright I had trouble sleeping.7. When I finally rolled over into a position to ignore the blue light the smoke detector's light was pointed right at the bed and also very bright.8. The room was run down and the furniture dilapidated.9. The sheets smelled bad, like overused cheap cleaning supplies.10. The shower fixtures had rust on them and there were stains on the ceiling. For some reason Google lists this hotel as a "5 star hotel." That's simply not true.

Beautiful property and location, and great staff. In need of some attention and select updates without lover modernizing and looking like the chain hotels opening all over town. We have stayed here yearly for a number of years because of its charm. This week we found the food portions to be noticeablly smaller but the quality of the meats continue to be excellent. Hearing that a management company is coming in to work for the new owners concerns me, as often this means things will be all business and the personal touch will be lost. That said, we would love to see this hotel get the boost it needs to become theunique and competitive property it can be.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days for part of our honeymoon while in the White Mountains and our stay was fantastic! It is a great location right off the main stretch through North Conway and has a beautiful view of the surrounding White Mountains.Lots of reviews are calling this place "dirty" or "outdated" but it was quite the opposite! It wasn't dirty at all: Our room was very well cleaned and smelled nice when we arrived. There were chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us in our room too. As far as being outdated: sure, the architecture is old and much of the furniture is antique, however everything was clean and in good condition. The architecture inside and the design choices were very aesthetically pleasing. The lounge area and the bar looked like something out of a 20's movie! It was the middle of July so it was quite hot out, and while the halls and stairwell at Stonehurst Manor got very hot, our room was very cool as the AC was modern and worked very well! The bed was comfy and the wifi worked great. The TV was a modern flatscreen. For all the people calling this place "outdated," they just have no appreciation for classic style. If you don't like a vintage look and want something with modern architecture and everything having whitewashed walls, maybe find a modern hotel and just don't come here. But if you love vintage aesthetics, this place is for you! The furniture, decor, and woodwork throughout were beautiful and fascinating. I will note that my husband and I are in our early 20s and certainly appreciate modern things and technology, but we are are also lovers of vintage things, and this place combined both old style with a bit of modern touches and did not disappoint. The meals were absolutely fantastic! Both nights my husband and I ordered the filet mignon and the manor special, "the wild rose" which was a seafood pasta and ravioli dish. Breakfast and dinner meals are included in your room package, so this was a great deal! All the staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating to us. They provided us with pool towels, ice for our cooler we brought, and were overall friendly. Our only complaints: 1) The bar was very expensive ($15+ for a mixed drink) so we didn't order any alcohol, except for one blueberry beer to split. The Martini menu looked great but it was just too expensive, however I guess that can be expected for an establishment like this. 2) The check-in and main office room smelled like wet dog because there is a dog in there and there was a lot of fur. I imagine it could be pretty bad for someone who is allergic to dogs, so they should be sure to clean better..Overall 5/5 stars and we will stay here again if we are back in the area.

We wound up without a place to stay on our honeymoon after a screw up with our reservation. Stonehurst Manor saved the day with a lovely room. The staff, food, and guests were all amazing. We will definitely be back again.

We had our daughter’s wedding here in October 2023, the bride and I are Vegan and the owner had me sample a delicious vegan/vegetarian dish and was told this dish would be served and it wasn’t. It was cut up raw plain vegetables that tasted terrible. Needless to say the bride and I did not eat and neither did our vegetarian guests. The management didn’t comment when this was brought to their attention. We had open bar and was not given a break down just an outrageous amount. Our family and quest came from out of state and stayed at the Inn and their townhouses and they said they were run down. We do not recommend this Venue at all.

I had my wedding there recently and the venue was beautiful. The scenery and the gardens are so pretty and perfect for pictures. But the best part was the staff/owners. We had an issue with my flowers (the bouquet) and without any hesitation, the owner asked if she could help. She took the initiative and went and picked flowers from the grounds and wrapped it up for me. And even made a smaller one for my daughter. She was on point, on top of everything, very attentive, and made sure everything was perfect for us! Hannah was amazing too. The wedding went off without a hitch (thanks to those two!) And I couldn't have been happier with the service and the food. The food was delicious! I couldn't have had a better experience anywhere else! Thank you so much!

We came to the manor for their Christmas dinner. It was wonderful. We always love the library bar and had excellent pre and post dinner drinks by the fireplace. The dining rooms were beautifully decorated and the food was awesome (with a wide range of options for each course). Our server Ben was professional and friendly. We always enjoy our dinners at Stonehurst and we’re glad to see the new owners we’re keeping up the quality and tradition of the manor.

We had a wonderful time at the bar, enjoying a fantastic dirty martini with extra olives! Owen, the bartender, and Michaela, the waitress, served it up perfectly! The truffle fries were delicious.

This was the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. If you decide to book here, be aware of room #8, or any other room in the “Mountain View” wing. This room was dark and dreary to say the least. Extremely dated furniture, my bedside lamp was broken and so was the outlet. No hairdryer in the room. Old towels in the bathroom. Cleanliness was not up to par, with hair in the bathtub, and dust literally everywhere. To add to that, bathtub drain was barely draining! And don’t even get me started on the bed. The mattress should have been replaced years ago! The bed was extremely soft, was sagging in the middle and you could hear and feel every tiniest movement the person next to you was making. Needless to say, both my partner and myself barely slept at night, and I think I will need a massage (or a few) to recover my body. And did I mention, that you can literally hear people snoring in the adjacent rooms?Extremely disappointed and will never stay there again.

Stayed at a condo here to shorten the drive to the April 8th 2024 eclipse totality range. It was well kept and perfectly accommodated three adults and two kids with plenty of room to spare.

Would not recommend staying the owner has this rich California attitude and is not willing to accommodate or go above and beyond for his his returning guest. When asked if I could get a money return on an upcharge to my room that I never asked for he literally have an attitude and slammed the office door on me and my wife. The way he treats his employees is another topic. He literally talks to them like they are homeless peasant. Never met a guy that is so rude in my entire life. It's people like him that buy businesses in our town that make the valley look bad 👎 😒. If I could give this a place a zero I would. Some of the rooms have black mold like rooms 24 and 15 look in the bathrooms. Some sheets look like the had old crusty fluid on the sheets. It's like they hadn't been changed in months. This was room 16. They should sell it back to the old owners. Pete and Laurel treated this place like there baby. This guy JJ is running this place to the ground. I give it a couple years and it will be sold. This guy can not run this business like his predecessors. It should now be called the Stonehurst Motel. It's turning into the Hitching post down in town. Sorry if anyone stays there and waste there money on this place. There is much more fancier places to stay. GOOD LUCK IF YOU STAY HERE. MIGHT NEED TO SLEEP IN A HAZARD SUITE.😷

We have stayed@the Stonehurst for many years&always had a fabulous time, the food, the rooms everything about it was fabulous WHEN the previous owners owned it! Now its awful to say the least!!! Our room was dirty&the bed literally had poop on the sheets...OMG!! We had the mountain view room that we feel are totally being neglected by the establishment!! We have always stayed in the suite rooms but they were booked up&this was the only rm available! The new owners did give us our money back for the weekend booked but we never received a written apology from them which we feel was totally warranted given the seriousness of our complaint!! Poop on the sheets, seriously 😝!!!We will never go back&many of our friends won't even consider this place any longer(which we have always raved about)We gave them ample time to respond back to us given this was in Oct 2023!Think twice before you book this expensive all inclusive wkend, especially in the"mountainview" rooms!!!!
